clack

Jordan twists one up over a loveline hip at woodward. photo: dave reuss
notice the bandage on his leg, he lacerated his leg pretty badly on plastic pedals, he probably would have lost his leg if he had his old pedals on.
also, I plan on painting my old frame and fork and switching back to it soon, and this thing found on strictlybmx.com has been awesome. (click on the red "customizer" link at the top of the page).

When it rains it pours (and it hasnt rained in months)

So Dave Reuss stopped through town on his way to everywhere else in the world. What a nomad. Good to see him and Snacks for a bit, and while he was here I got some pictures from him. On the same day I went over to Mike's and got a bunch of pictures from our session at the dirtbowl and watsonville last week. Sasquatch Canyon is now faced with a problem we have never had before. We have too many pictures. So today I will post a bunch of the watsonville pictures and I think I will do twice weekly installments of the dirt bowl and woodward photos. This way I might be able to squeeze out a few more posts. gracias Albert.
we showed up and the trails were really dry, but a lot of stuff was running.

we took some runs and rode a few close trains.

until dusty tried to pass me and we almost died, although I think we did both finish out the section

dusty and mike did some stunts on the third set in creekside

check out hollywood heath's face

we all rode expressway and detour and some other lines, here is me gettin into textbook paulie table (or overhand table)

moving sidewalk

That seems like more than enough pictures for now, I'll post the rest of the watsonville pictures soon enough.

Olympic Recap

So BMX is over and America didn't win. 2nd and 3rd place went to Mike Day and Donny Robinson respectively with a Latvian rider taking first. Jill Kitner came in 3rd in the women's class while mountain bike legend Anne Caroline Chausson took the win. It is good to know the the mens silver medalist can be found doing stuff like this when not weight training.
Thats right,Mike Day shreds parks and trails. Of course.

I debated as to whether I should post this next link at all, because this article is the most frustrating thing I have read in a while, but I decided I should anyway. I invite everyone to make comments on the article asking Fox News to fire this guy. what an idiot. http://www.foxsports.com.au/beijing_olympics/story/0,8659,24216981-5014104,00.html

JOEY BRADFORD!! I guess he didnt make the olympics but I bet he came close. This guy definitely comes to the trails and speedjumps the hell out of everything. Local boy!

And just wanted to say that as cool as the olympic track is, the downhill bmx course at woodward west was insane. Mostly overgrown now, but if you walk it you would think that someone who was 12 feet tall built gnarly trailsn for himself. You can see from this video that it is more trails than track, look at some of those lips! poppy. You can tell Gilly, Dave King and Nate Wessel had a hand in that beast

OH, also I remember recently hearing that semi-ex-bmxer mtb superstar Darren Berrecloth has a pretty interesting event in the works for an upcoming Mountain bike contest. The idea was a dual slalom race with a few large trick jumps placed throughout the course and a booter at the end. The scoring would be similar to moguls skiing were you time can be influenced by how well you do on the jumps. Bmx probably doesn't need a new event because Red Bull has gotten it perfect with Empire of Dirt but I think it might be interesting to see Brian Foster and others race down a perfect course and then be judged on a rhythm section. who knows. Like a trails sprint race mixed with a dirt comp.
sidenote: put together a different bike and loving it. going to the eastbay for a few days. hopefully a related update. And our friend Albert from Spain, who has been in Santa Cruz for weeks now may have some pictures from our Watsonville session the other day, including one of Dusty trying to pass me in a section.

BEIJING FEVER

OLYMPIC MANIA!!! Well, I for one am excited about the olympic bmx racing that is only two days away. RideBMX did a little piece on their site recently with interviews with a bunch of industry dudes, including Alan Foster and Robbo. I will summarize by saying that almost everyone thought racing exposure was a great thing for BMX on the whole. I wont bother linking to their site cause it is pretty worthless. The best part of the article definitely was the fact that every picture they used was of racers riding trails (apparently actual race shots would be too boring). Here are some of the best.

I always thought the place Robo is riding in this looked awesome. BO's?
what a rad trick.

Oh, and if you weren't already excited about the race check out the track.

a while back I posted a CAD style image of the track, but this one is from a different angle and gives an even better feel for some of the details.

So SANTA CRUZ lets get together and raise some glasses/bottles while we watch some berm bangin action. TUESDAY! TUESDAY! TUESDAY!
rode watsonville today, real dry, but a great time, almost every line ran. Heath Ledger siting.
oh, in semi-race related news S&M just announced that they are now making CHALLENGER stems again. That will go great with the new DIRTBIKE i wish I had the money for.

SEGMENT!

segment clothing, who has been a part of the "birds of a feather" sidebar for a while now, noticed our backyard pumptrack and had some nice things to say. go here to read it. and all this from the company that makes the most kickass shirt in bmx. observe.
TRAILS ON SUNDAY!!!gonna be a dustbowl but that is fine with us.
also here is a few more shots from the pumptrack, we are almost done at this point and these are 3 weeks old, but I did take some pictures today and i will try to get them up soon.

also one photo i took while driving out of the canyon a while back. a good sunset after a good day of digging or riding, I cant really remember. so many trees are cut down at the canyon.

also rather than post a bunch of videos that are already all over the internet, go to deluxebmx and watch the willow street video then go to their vimeo page and watch that. then go to odyssey and watch the chase hawk video. then ride bikes.
and then visit chris riesner's vimeo page cause we all know he shreds and he has fluffy dogs.

So many more pictures of this place to come, but here is an overview of what we have completed at the pumptrack job. This shot was taken standing on the massive roll-in

Senior Citizen

65th post...yeah! Sasquatch Canyon just qualified for a senior discount
I guess the Franchise Web video along with the First Rule video just premiered at the SF clocktower. I was really excited to see the First Rule video and know those guys put it down. I am so out of the loop, I haven't made it to the bay in too long, but I hope to change that once I am unemployed again. Soon enough. I wish the summer hadn't been so busy, and there had been more time to see people, but sometimes busy is the best. Nicole and I are going to a wedding in Colorado next week, and vacation never hurt anybody.
Here is the Franchise video, it is as good, if not better than their first web video and that is saying a lot. First clip from Zac Costa is outta this world like Evie Garland. Also really liked all the trail footage in Sean Ryan's part and Kyle Emery Peck has the hessian juice.

Franchise Web Vid 2 from bruce jordan on Vimeo.
Also, Steven Hamilton's section from Ted Van Orman's (beeler's brother's) video "The Day is over". Such a good song and edit. I think I wore out the animal Dvd watching Hamilton's part in that, and this has a lot of the same era stuff. Seriously one of the only people that makes me want to go out and ride street, and I actually did this week.

I keep saying that I will take pictures of the project we are doing for my doctor and I should, it is coming along really well and should be a blast to ride. Rode funspot for a bit tonight had a good time. summer nights.
and one more vic murhpy shot cause it is so rad
