Hitchhiking to Legendary, CA
Scooty Matt is a fixture in the Santa Cruz BMX world. He can do more tailwhips in one flyout than the whole park combined, likes to party, and his tall tales are famous. He grew up really close to where I live and still comes to San Lorenzo Valley a lot, so it seems like I am constantly picking him up on the side of the road. Tribute to a legend in the making. Also, Matt's friend Christophe and father to a bunch of shredders has a blog. I nabbed some pictures of some of us off it, but you should probably click here for the captions alone.

Long DIstance
I think the first time I went to Oregon someone told me that Chester Blacksmith tried to ride his bike with some friends like a 100 miles in the dead of winter in the mountains and ended up having to get semi-rescued. This is even more amazing. I complain when I have to pedal across town with Andy twice in one day. Although he does have calves like this
(I meant the dinosaur statue...)

Dunspot
There is so much santa cruz stuff on Pinkbike (notice I didn't link to the site), but I guess I will keep missing it. Some how I ensnared this one and I am glad I did. Anything that involves Anthony has me stoked right now, its in HD, and Dusty is in full on Bronze Bomber mode in this one. OH, and there is a must see clip at the end of the video.

Interdude Recap Part(y) 1
So we finally made it back from Vegas and we are all alive and well, but probably just a little burned out. Eventually the better photos will surface, here are a couple cell phone photos in the meantime.
That one was for Syd and Mike.
(Bars real big, Vegas real big). In between getting confused with the Brawny Paper towel guy, staggering around for miles in the middle of the night, seeing the sun come up and sleeping in the bushes we managed to have a pretty good time. Nora cup was great (Spinner may have been showered with drinks and booed). And on the subject of partying, I saw this site mentioned in a IntheGnar post and needed to share this juggalo party photo, although it is only one of many jewels in the crown.

Sin Cal 4130 10th Anniversary Jam
Crazy Chris's Jam in Salinas happened this last Saturday and was a rollicking good time. Between trying to drink all the Tecate in Salinas and bouncing my head on the ground, my recollection was a bit hazy but I will try to piece it back together.
Turn out was great, people from the bay, Santa Cruz and all over the Central Coast turned out to ride, heckle, drink, and hang out in the sun.
Chris had a near truckload of prizes from FITbikes, Fox, Salinas/Watsonville Pawn Shop, 2hip and a bunch of other companies. Chris organized a Rail Jam, A high air contest (aka Jordan Murdock Demo) and a massive game of footdown. Top 3 Riders in each contest got hooked up with a ton of prizes. I think Andy took first place in the rail jam and I know Jordan won the high air contest. Luke brutalized a bunch of people in the footdown contest, but I can't remember if that lead to a win or not. Thanks to everyone who came out, thanks to all the sponsors and a big thanks to Chris for keeping the Central Coast BMX community together for all these years.

Third eye grind.

Big Hair/Big Air/Big Flair Contest went off!

Jarrod and I tied for best crash and each went away with $25 gift certificates to the pawn shop. Jarrod shows off his new bike setup. Chi-town.
