Chunky
Been making the drive down to Chunky Hills lately to ride with Jordan, Brandon, Matt, Travis and Borchard. The amount of work that has gone on down there is almost unbelievable. The first day I came home and my face was sore from smiling. Soo fast, so fun. Joey was out there shredding and taking amazing pictures and you can find those on his website, unevenground.org

stuff
So, this video is just wayy to good not to send me running for the blog posting controls.
Tom Robinson from Tom C on Vimeo.
Run, dont walk to PAwoods and buy a video to see more stuff like this. And for godsakes go to axelrad or PAwoods and track down the petition and sign it, and then buy some awesome stuff and support a worthy cause.
Also, I spent a few days off the internet and when I returned I was actually excited about wasting my time here on the online. Go to deluxe and Defgrip.net for some great content as usual, particularly a piece on the Trail issue of dig (issue 68, which I am planning on buying 2-3 copies of) and the Jeff Z interview. Interviews are so hot right now. Who the hell does BMX think it is, skateboarding, do we all really care what other people say. And as always Sasquatch Canyon can be found with the other flotsam at the tail-end of the cool wave...that's right the canyon is loosely planning a series of interviews with local and not so local up-and-comers and has-beens. First one Chris Reisner? and maybe expect a more organized post about zines as I recently invested in an issue of HOLESHOT and highly recommend that you do so too. In fact buy a zine, make a zine, just don't start a blog, because they are killing zines and they are useless. oh, and go to life to see the best in both zinery and blogotomy.
AND NOW CELL PHONE PICTURE OVERLOAD
UHOH! Mike is addicted to building things. Somewhere to stay out of the sun during January in Santa Cruz. Super fun. Real pictures soon.

I hope that the BEER CAVE in Redding has this stuff. Although I don't know where the name comes from because when I see C-wood locals getting hurt it isn't because they flip over the handlebars its because they are blacked out, shirtless and playing with broken glass or dirtbikes.
Otis will poop in the water if I tell him to.

Get Well Dusty

Bicycle Pilot Extraordinaire Dusty Samson is gonna be off his bike for a while. Dusty rides his bike pretty much every moment he gets and it shows, I dont personally know anyone better at bikes. While riding some trails last weekend he went down hard. It sounds like he broke some bones in his foot. Dusty will be back shredding as soon as humanly possible though, he heals like wolverine. If you know Dusty then you know what kinds of presents to drop by his house.

WORK IS LOVE MADE VISIBLE - Khalil Gibran
I would like to raise a glass and say thank you to all the people who are carving out little pieces of land the world over. To all the people who are making the world more fun, more colorful. To all the people who make the days more memorable. To all the people who have moved earth, or bucketed water, or driven a nail or screw. To all the people who have shared food or drinks at the trails. To all the people who have driven to spots. To all the people who have welcomed me or anyone else into that little miracle in the woods or their backyard or garage. Here is to all the builders, and friends and birds of a feather. Happy New Year.

On the other side of the Fence
In the last few years Santa Cruz county has enjoyed a backyard renaissance of sorts. No backyard ramps as of yet, and not much done by bmxers (although Ryan Finn had a pretty crazy setup at his house for a hot minute), but it seems like every mountain biker we know has created some backyard wonderland. Last weekend we had the pleasure of visiting Michaels house, and I was blown away. These pictures dont show all the amazing stuff but they do highlight the really smooth sixpack that finishes off a technical-slalomy type line. All pictures by Justin Brantley.
This guy's name is Guy. Limbs off.
Crazy legs. Guy.
Michael. King of the Castle.
Jacob has a backyard paradise of his own, and apparently it is payin off.
That same rainy weekend we rode some other perfect private property, made a trek all the way to Damp Cats (and saw Kize use those long limbs to scare kids out of the way), and watched as some idiot paint ballers had a "session" of their own at a classic spot. Louis documented it all in this short video.
Oh, and I really like this video that Trent from RDGBMX made a little while back.
