SUCCESS (longest post ever)

So, City Council meeting was a success. We now have a permanent home for the bike park at Depot Park, which we can hopefully get going by June. A bunch of us showed up and sat around for an hour waiting to say why a bike park is necessary. Highlights definitely included little Merc getting on the mike, and live television (he is what, 5 years old?) and ending his speech by shouting "QUESTIONS?" at the mayor. Awesome. Oh, and we cant forget the vietnam vet and self proclaimed "King of Marijauna" and his epic speech about why the mayor, city council and everyone in the world should be smoking weed, and how it should be major industry here so we can export it to "all the vodka drinking lands".

Mike was nervous, but you never would have known listening from the audience. When he came back and sat down he said "Dude, I almost fainted".

The city council members were very receptive and we encountered nearly zero opposition, except for the "fiscal conservative" who needs to read up on CA liability laws. Thanks to Jesse Nickell and Barry Swenson Builders, Dannettee Shoemaker and Steve Hammock at Parks and Rec, Jarrod, Mike and everyone who came to all the meetings.

Dave Reuss and Snacks were just in town for a bit doing some work for Family Cycling, always a good time when that old salt is around. Rode some trails, checked in on the warehouse and ate that pizza! In case I never posted this picture (I am sure I did...) here is a picture of Dave Reussting from back when Sasquatch Canyon was more than just a blog.


It's like summer in a bottle. or something. all the trails look amazing. so nice I watched it twice. I posted it small, but click on the video and select "high quality" anyway, and then grab a beer.

NOW, go to Country Clubbin, its the best thing in the santa cruz blogosphere.
