This morning Jordan (who is in San Diego) got a call from his dad saying there was a tractor out at the trails knocking stuff over. There has been talk for a few weeks about the possibility of the trails being torn down, but there was a lot of uncertainty so people had kept things pretty quiet. Complaints about parking, land use, and "partying" had been coming in and a local Fire Chief was told that he would have to demolish the place. Matt and Travis had plans to try to intercede and Mitch Murdock did what he could but I guess things just moved too quickly. I am probably going to head down there today or tomorrow after work to take such pictures of the devastation and I'll post those along with some more news on what happened.
Brandon, Jordan, Matt and Travis did an amazing job with the place. Massive landings, perfectly sculpted lips and some of the fastest lines people had ever ridden made the place stand out to locals and visitors alike. The locals were prolific in their efforts, and if you stayed away for a month there was guaranteed to be a new line or jump when you returned. Some truly memorable sessions happened over the past 3 years and like any great set of trails that place will be sorely missed.
Thanks to everyone who made such an awesome place possible. Thanks for letting me ride out there. Thanks to cloudy days when the trails stayed wet, thanks for bbq's and beer, the shit-talking and high fives, thanks to trains when you could barely make it through the line because you were laughing, thanks to the shovel work of a few good men. R.I.P. CHUNKY.

word...another great place comes to an end, time to start all over again.
fucking shitty
No!!! I had just heard so much about this, and finally once the BMX is back. Keep on going guys. I'm sure a new spot will come up.
devastating. can't even comprehend the lack of chunky to the costal scene
Damn... that really sucks. That place looked ripping. It also looked like there had been about a million shovel hours gone into that place... you hate to see that much work wiped out in a day.
This made me cry. Can't wait for the new spot!!!
it broke me off for the last time
