YOWSER!

Just got back from a party for Andy Maguire's graduation from an intstitution of higher learning. How many history majors do you know that can barspin-to-feeble-to-180 -to-fullcab down a set of stairs. that is what i thought. You know what the last class you take in the history major is? Standing in the Unemployment line 101. ha.
When I left un-named party goers had filtered into the street and were spraying each other with the neighbors hose. Anthony. recipe for disaster.com.

If you were to study the history of Andy Maguire this photo would be a class unto itself. hungover toothpick.

Visit passionbmx to download a pdf of their online zine. The magazine focuses on photography bmx and otherwise, and is fun to navigate.

Some out of towners from Sacramento came and shredded the Canyon yesterday. Jumped over the creek and everything. I didn't make it down to see in person but I am PSYCHED!! Thanks for coming guys, and showin the trails who is boss.

check out trailscene for pictures of lots of dirt art (including the canyon).

liquid dirt has a cool new video up shot at their trails.

This bike is on craigslist, and I cant stop looking at it. I dont think I am gonna buy a cruiser, and definitely not a GT, but I really want one for some reason. I guess I just like going fast. Maybe I will race 35-39 cruiser in ten years. Build up a .38 special and just get fat.

a cool drawing of the olympic track in China. I think it looks really fun. the pro section that jumps over the berm is reminiscent of the canyon future line. click on it to make it bigger.

photo of the year? yup!! Sundays. Jim told me that the place was crafted out of butter.

black spot, red skies

If you ever read Treasure Island than you remember that just before a traitorous pirate is killed by his old crew he is slipped a small piece of paper with a black spot on it.

Today I went out to the trails and saw the trail riders equivalent. A red plastic flag tied to a tree. I have heard rumors and they may just be that, but apparently the Canyon might be plowed in the next three months to make room for houses no one can afford. They will probably just sit there half completed anyway. Whatever the case, I got all of my tools out of there, and took down all the cables and locks. If there is anyone who reads this who doesnt already have a key, I would be suprised, but here is everybodys chance to ride the canyon, whenever they want. Try to bring up water and water stuff, but for all I care have a ball. Respect the trails and use them. Maybe we will get lucky and they will be there for awhile. If they are, they will undergo some serious changes and be freakin awesome come next spring. Mike and I have a project that will materialize on here eventually, and I have been looking for some new spots. Expect good things. here is a picture of the redbull dirt pipe contest to cheer everyone up.

Also here is a picture from the bonny doon fire. My aunt lives less than a mile away and I took this (on a cell phone) while on my way to evacuate her animals. The fire spared her house. Some werent so lucky. Hope we get more rain next year, for trailbuilders and homeownders' sakes.

and one from her house

TWO awesome videos by Deluxe, the makers of my next frame. They are an all trails parts and frame company out of the uk. They rule. the first video ends with some helmet cam stuff, which almost seems kooky at first but starts to get awesome if you hold an old pair of bars and watch it drunk in a room with the lights off.

big bikes

Tomorrow it will be 8 weeks since my injury, and I still dont feel quite right, but good enough to ride a few times a week so far. I will be celebrating this weekend with a trip to the trails, so hopefully I will see you out there. So far riding my bmx has been easiest on my shoulder (which doesn't quite make sense) and today I went for a fairly unsuccessful mountain bike ride. Otis and I started by bushwacking some old forgotten trail, choked with poison oak, over by De Laveaga Golf course. After coming to a dead end we decided we would ride something we knew, but almost immediately got a huge pointy stick stuck in my fear tire. Instant flat. So we walked back to the car. otis was still stoked on the hiking.

In more big bike news, Jacob and others have been going out to the trails to ride and take care of them a bit, and Bryce Shaw took these pictures of Jacob gettin rad on the second hip. I really like these.

On another bigbike note, i was trying to clean my camelback today so I stuck a q-tip a little ways into the hose, and it came out black, i cant believe I drink out of that thing. so now i gotta buy a wire brush or something to clean it out. I decided i would look on camelback's website. They have the brush but I got sidetracked looking at all this crazy military gear they make. Camelback really is ready for the apocalypse. "Hydrate or Die".

In little bike news, go to defgrip for some pictures of the Old School swap meet that just happended down south. Wish I had gone in person, but this is well worth the trip through cyberspace for the photos. DEFGRIP

I'll leave you with a little video of some of the most compact (yet awesome) trails I have ever seen.

Canyon PICTURES..and dirt art

Mythical jump builder and professional loony Dave Reuss, pictured here scouting for bandicoots, gave his website and Woodward West a facelift. So many great pictures and they can all be found in one place, complete with a new snazzy interface, the webernet is awesome!! Click HERE to be magically transported to Dave's website. there is bike stuff, dirt stuff, snow stuff, and landscape stuff...all enjoyable and proven to make you a little nuttier. Dave has been very busy making Woodward West beautiful again, and from what he has said he has even worked out some long time bugs in the lines, but the rattlesnakes are probably still everywhere.
So without me stumbling around spilling wheelbarrows and falling asleep in the shade, real artful things can be accomplished. Check out this masterpiece. soon to be blown to bits by skidiots.

Dave also came through Santa Snooze on his way to Woodward and in between vegan picnics with Ryan, and Jenga Marathons
we went out to the canyon, so those guys could ride for a bit. These and all of the photos in this post (minus the rattlesnake pic) were taken from www.davereuss.com without that crusty webmaster's permission so I suggest you go over there and see it from the horses mouth.
welcome to sasquatch country..

dave gets rad while ryan celebrates a high holiday.
