FIRE!

I just walked up on the hill behind my mom's house and saw this happening. This picture was taken down in Watsonville, close to the major wildfire in the Santa Cruz mountains. The CDF diverted this tanker to Ben Lomond to contain a small fire that started when a power line was knocked down by high winds. The fire was close enough (a little over a mile as the crow flies) that I could see flames. Frightening. Here is a news article about the larger fire in the area, and here is a slide show from the fire.

I gotta give a big thank you to all the firefighters out there risking their lives to keep people and homes safe. Get er done dudes.

road to recovery.

manualled my hill today. bowl cruise this saturday morn. sv. be there. call me. trails in a week or three. also i visited an osteopath yesterday in my continuing quest for kooky fixes to my injured body. There is nothing kooky about osteopathy. I feel better than I have in years. ask me about it in person to hear wayyy to much about how worthwhile it is.
enjoy this video. this place claimed part of my face a while back.

JENGA DAYS

so dave and ryan have come and gone now. Ryan left last friday and dave took off for woodward this morning. I hung out while they rode some bikes, we went on hikes, had some dog parties, played Jenga and made some delicious meals. A great time. Wish we could travel by just folding the map.

Im healin up, still riding a stationary bike instead of a moving one but getting closer all the time. I started a new job and wrecked my car so i have been pretty busy lately, hence the lack of posts. Dave got himself a fancy digital camera so eventually i will share some moments captured from the last week, including some really great pictures of sasquatch canyon. the trails are actually in fairly great shape, and I have some good ideas for next year already planned. now it just needs to rain. only 7 months away. Cant wait to be riding bikes..soon enough.

it sounds like the woodward west digging crew will be an all cottonwood/redding team this year, so expect stuff to be dialed and steep and all the squirrels to be dead in the surrounding county. go get em snacks! I hope to go check out the trails some summer weekend, takers?

a video of chertsey trails in england. found over at segment clothing (link in the feathers box). Right now I think this is the place i want to ride the most. look at the length of those berms. railin.

and another video from one set of trails. Saavedra's spot down south. Place looks really fun, a bunch of jumps packed in to a little space, some of the best berms ever and I love how all the landings and lips share with other lines. cheaters for renting the bobcat but whatever. work got done. enjoy

coffee and cookies

this photo is pretty old, if you look in the background you can see the stuff coming out of the berm is all torn down and waiting to be rebuilt how it is today. I took it in the morning and love the way the light is falling on the forest floor. plus you can tell i had coffee that morning (check the backpack).

I reccomend going to the 2-hip site, jarrod has done an amazing job with it and they have some new team members that I am really excited about, including Carpleton Beeversworth and Taliban Tom.

have you ever seen anything as stupid as t-shirt buyers guide? I mean for years we have endured bmxplus t shirt buyers guides, but now this?

Nicole has been painting like crazy, these two peacocks that have yet to have color added but I think they are soo amazing. She has an artshow May 27th and I will post a flyer on here when it gets a little closer.

My shoulder feels pretty good these days (probably about three weeks until i can pump around the skatepark) so I have been riding the stationary bike a bit.

Since I cant exercise outside really otis has been sulking in bed a lot

OH! and check this out!!! my favorite feature on the new bike..Coffee mug holder mounted to the bars...yeah, your jealous. tyring to figure out how to make one for slam bars...

AND THE BIGGEST NEWS OF ALL!! RYAN FOWLER comes to town TOMORROW! and DAVE REUSS on tuesday. yeah.
